Let’s be honest! Life gets busy and meal prepping can be time consuming. When I first started meal prepping, I spent many hours doing so. Over time, I have found more time efficient techniques to minimize the stress of not engaging in unhealthy eating habits when there is no food prepped.
On days I have work, I start training around 7 p.m. By the time I get done, it is almost 9 p.m. and time for me to unwind. At nighttime, I do not like to eat heavy meals because I don’t digest as well as some people. I like to eat the bulk of my meals during the day when I am most active.
When I finish exercising, I like to have something that is light on my stomach, but still contains protein, carbs, healthy fats, and includes vitamins/antioxidants. Written below is one of my go-to’s after a nighttime workout or when I don’t have food prepped. If you are like me and workout at night, do not be afraid to eat after you workout. It is important to eat a post-workout meal to encourage muscle growth and promote recovery for the best results.
Ingredients:
¼ Cup of Oats (I use steel-cut)
¼ Cup of Blueberries or berries of choice
1 Scoop Protein Powder (I use Dymatize ISO100- Whey Isolate)
1 Tablespoon Almond Butter
12oz. of Water or Preferred Non-Dairy Milk
